Alireza Jalal oglu Aliyev (azerb. Cəlal Əlirza oğlu Əliyev; born June 30, 1928) - Azerbaijani scientist-breeder and politician, academician and a member of the Presidium of ANAS, deputy of Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic, an uncle of President Ilham Aliyev.


Jalal Aliyev was born on June 30, 1928 in Nakhichevan in a large family. One of his brothers - Heydar Aliyev was to become the president of Azerbaijan and the other two brothers, Hasan Aliyev and Agil Aliyev of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences academics like himself. He graduated in 1944, Faculty of Natural Sciences of Nakhchivan Teachers Institute, and in 1951 - the biological faculty of Azerbaijan State University In 1976 he was elected a Corresponding Member and in 1980 - a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. Three times (1995, 2000 and 2005.) Elected deputy of Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Jalal Aliyev is a foreign member of Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences and the Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Belarus. He is also a member of the International Society for Molecular Biology of Plants, American Society of Plant Biologists, the International Society of Photosynthesis Research, Plant Physiology Society of Japan and the International Society for cellular stress.

Jalal Aliyev actively engaged in political activity. [1].

Scientific Activities

Jalal Aliyev, the author of over 500 scientific publications including 20 monographs and books published in the national and international press. Another 340 scientific papers were published abroad [2]. His research activity is devoted to the study of photosynthetic productivity theory as a basis for crop yield, mainly wheat.
